8 Wonderful Years

Today I'm celebrating my wedding anniversary. Eight years ago today I pledged my life to my best friend. It was a wonderful celebration on that day but I never knew how fun, fulfilling and amazing it would be to be married. It's been a great ride and I love you, Luke!

Starting Her Young

Kara wanted to help Daddy work in the garage (where he does his business LZ Engraving) and so he put her to work.

If you make it through this entire video, you are either family, or have been tricked into watching it, because it's pretty boring!

Big Fish!

Luke spent the 3rd of July hogging with some buddies. Click on the link if you want to know more, but the basic idea is that you catch catfish with your bare hands.

Needless to say, I've never been hogging.

After a 45 minute fight, here is the behemoth Luke and his friends wrestled to land:At 53 pounds, this catfish is bigger than Kara!

Happy Birthday, Luke!

Today is Luke's 32nd birthday. I will be at Women of Faith in St. Louis so we celebrated last night by giving Luke a boat.
Okay, it wasn't a boat. But Kara knows not to spoil surprises (but I guess she doesn't know not to lie!) so she told him it was a boat instead of the peanut butter cups that we got him. (I know...big spenders we are)
She especially liked the card she picked out (and so did I!)
The front says "Happy Birthday, Dad"
Inside is printed "From your little grill"

Week 2 of Work

For those of you who don't know, today is Week 2 of me working part-time temporarily helping with clerical work (none of that math stuff) for a CPA office. When I got home from my first day of work...Kara and Luke made me this:
Notice in the top left hand corner...it says "wow" or "Mom" :)

And then that blurry picture...."Kara"

Building with Daddy

Overheard during this block building activity with Daddy:

"This is so special, just me and Daddy!!"
(Singing) "Life is better than a royal pink sweater!"
"Daddy, you're so sweet!"

Do you think she enjoyed playing with Dad?

Works for Me Wednesday-He Keeps going and going and...

You've seen this beautiful thing my husband made me. I knew he was making the laundry cabinet. But this new spice rack was a surprise from Kara and Luke.
Do you think this would be something he could sell through his business? Should he engrave the center with some corny phrase like "Spice Things Up?"

A husband who makes useful things for me....works for me. Find more here.

Manly Luke

Growing up, I loved Little House on the Prairie books. Somewhere, and I don't remember where, I read that Laura's husband, Almanzo or Manly, custom built their home and because Laura was short, he made the kitchen cabinets lower than standard cabinets.

I loved that little tidbit. Partly because I'm short. And partly because it was so romantic! Today, I realized I married a "Manly." Luke custom made these beautiful cabinets for me.

And because I'm vertically challenged, he made pull out shelves!! Thanks, Honey. Great job!
