Remembering when it was warmer...

Eight days ago, we got to play at the park WITHOUT coats. I love that weather. By the way, I tried to fix her hat, but that's the way she likes it. What can you do?

Snow Day

Kara and I played in the snow. I wrote "Kara" in the snow. Then she bent down to write something (I assumed it would be Kara) but it was...."MOM." So cute.

(Yes, I know it looks like Mo...but the last "m" kind of ran into the "k" in her name.)

Works for Me Wednesday-He Keeps going and going and...

You've seen this beautiful thing my husband made me. I knew he was making the laundry cabinet. But this new spice rack was a surprise from Kara and Luke.
Do you think this would be something he could sell through his business? Should he engrave the center with some corny phrase like "Spice Things Up?"

A husband who makes useful things for me....works for me. Find more here.

Setting the Table

It is usually Kara's job to set the table for dinner. It's exciting for me to see her get more and more independent by getting out the silverware instead of me getting her the forks etc. Well...she set my place very well:
Here's her dad's:
Notice the fork...it's a serving fork:
We noticed it and laughed (and took pictures for the blog) and then halfway through the meal I look up and see the World's Greatest Dad actually using it:

Manly Luke

Growing up, I loved Little House on the Prairie books. Somewhere, and I don't remember where, I read that Laura's husband, Almanzo or Manly, custom built their home and because Laura was short, he made the kitchen cabinets lower than standard cabinets.

I loved that little tidbit. Partly because I'm short. And partly because it was so romantic! Today, I realized I married a "Manly." Luke custom made these beautiful cabinets for me.

And because I'm vertically challenged, he made pull out shelves!! Thanks, Honey. Great job!

Nashville Park 2

I guess I can't write enough about our trip to Nashville. I couldn't fit everything about the park in one blog post so here is a little more. Kara just loves to make her own music and this park had a place for her and her daddy to jam.

It also had the slowest slide in the world....(you'll have to turn your head a little)

More from Nashville

While visiting the McDaniel family in Nashville, we played a fun new DVD game they have...Deal or No Deal. I've seen this game on TV a few times, but playing it (even if no real money actually spews out of the DVD player) is a blast! The game has a 2 player option so we played boys versus girls. Us girls were doing a great job and the boys didn't think they could beat us by taking the deal, so they had to go to the end and hope their case had the winning amount. Meanwhile, we girls had the million dollar case, but took a deal of $208,000.

The boys rejected each banker deal until the end. As we all held our collective breath (especially me since I'm so competitive) Howie looked at us like this:And stayed that way. The DVD somehow paused and never recovered. Frustrating...and also I won't look at Howie the same way...it's pretty creepy, no?

Vocal Stylings of Kara

There is something about this book that makes Kara just want to sing. Here's another little ditty. I have no idea what she is saying most of it but the face at the end is priceless. (Obviously she knew I was recording).

We are visiting our good friends, the McDaniel family, in Nashville, TN. I have lots to post but for now, here's a picture from our last visit (Sept. '07).
