7 Things

I've been tagged (about two months ago!!!) by my good friend, Diane over at A Little McD (which she'll soon have to rename "2 Little McDs"!) to name 7 creative things about me. So here goes:

1) I like all food except one thing. Pepperoni. Seriously. There are combinations of food that I don't like or certain ways of preparation but pepperoni is the only food that I truly don't like.

2) I didn't like my wedding dress. Sad, I know. For some reason I was in a hurry to pick one out and tried to get it as cheaply as possible. I only tried on a few and I really have no idea why I rushed it. My mom fixed the worst parts and made it a lot better than the original but...it's my one regret to a GREAT wedding.

3) When I watch movies or TV, I like to laugh. Once in a great while I like a sad movie. But mostly I don't like action or thinking movies and I especially don't like scary or horror movies.

4) I love to read. Books, magazines, newspapers, internet articles, game instructions, recipes, blogs...cereal boxes!

5) Growing up, I always wanted an older brother. I don't know why I glamorized it. Now, I love being the oldest of 5 girls. I love my sisters!

6) All my sisters and my mom have been to Hawaii and I've never gone!!! I would love to go to Hawaii.

7) I don't like to blog without posting a picture. Since I'm not at home with my own camera cord, I've found one on my sister's computer. It is of Braedon, my very new nephew!
Now I'm supposed to tag 7 friends. Since probably only 7 people (or less) read this blog, consider yourself tagged!!!

Knowledge about People

"Mom, do you know what I know about people?" asked Kara.

"What do you know about people?" I said.

"The more you grow, the higher you can jump and the faster you can run."

She's pretty smart! And pretty cute.

After her daddy went to work for a few hours on Saturday, she was anxious for his return, so she sat outside on her little "tot spot" and watched for him...too precious!

CVS/VBS

Our church's Vacation Bible School is coming this next week. This is Kara's second year and she is SOOOO excited. The director sent all the kids a post card reminder in the mail and she has carried it around with her ever since. Here she is holding tight to it while riding on a pony at a local store.

I'm helping with the music, which includes a lot of motions to learn, so she gets a sneak peak at all the fun songs. I'm hoping to get her on video singing some of them!

Also, sometimes she says VBS but sometimes she gets confused and says CVS (thus the title of this post).

Luke took these pictures a few weeks ago at my sisters' graduation party.

Artist Kara

We used another fun idea from MOMSense magazine published by MOPS last week.
We bought different colors of KoolAid packets and added 2 to 3 tablespoons of warm water. Voila! Scratch and sniff paint.

WARNING: It stains very easily, on skin too. But the result was beautiful!

This one is entitled "Away in The Manger." See the stars?

100!!!

Today, Hobie and Gobie turn 100...well, this is my 100th blog post. I had lots of ideas on how to make this special (and others helped me think of great ways to commemorate this milestone) but nothing was just right.

Until I read Psalm 100. What a GREAT passage and perfect for my 100th post. Every picture I've posted and paragraph written over the past year can be attributed to the goodness of the LORD and His many blessings in my family's life.

This is from The Message.

Psalm 100
A Thanksgiving Psalm
1-2 On your feet now—applaud God! Bring a gift of laughter,
sing yourselves into his presence.

3 Know this: God is God, and God, God.
He made us; we didn't make him.
We're his people, his well-tended sheep.

4 Enter with the password: "Thank you!"
Make yourselves at home, talking praise.
Thank him. Worship him.

5 For God is sheer beauty,
all-generous in love,
loyal always and ever.

Here's a really old picture of our family...but I'm super thankful for my husband and daughter.
I love her "cheese" face!

Johanna!!

We had a special treat this weekend because one of my roommates from college and BFF, Johanna, came to visit from Kentucky!
We were busy having fun so we didn't take many pictures. The weekend consisted of food, fellowship (we had a bunch of people over to visit with her) and flicks.
We also taught her our favorite game, Settlers of Catan.

A Post about Hair

For the third (or fourth?) time, I cut off a bunch of hair and donated it (the first few times here and this time here).
Here's the before:
And only 4 people noticed the difference...but here is the after:I actually want it shorter, but this length is pretty good because when I work out, I can put it up in a ponytail.

Big Fish!

Luke spent the 3rd of July hogging with some buddies. Click on the link if you want to know more, but the basic idea is that you catch catfish with your bare hands.

Needless to say, I've never been hogging.

After a 45 minute fight, here is the behemoth Luke and his friends wrestled to land:At 53 pounds, this catfish is bigger than Kara!

Not Messy,right?

"Kara, your room is messy," I said.
"It's not THAT messy, Mom," she said. You be the judge.

Here is the after picture thanks to a fundraiser at church called "rent-a-kid."

Our Favorite Game

Does anyone know what game this is? I love this picture (especially because I'm orange)!

Nashville Friends

It's been a month now, but in early June we visited our good friends in Nashville. Here are some pics from that fun weekend (we went back to that great park!)

This tent/tunnel play yard was especially a hit!

It was so cute to see (6 months after last time we visited) Javen and Kara having so much fun together. Here is my favorite picture! What good friends!
