A Quick Visit
We got to visit with the Carrolls (well some of them) on Thanksgiving day before we left for Chicago. Kara and Asher enjoyed some good cousin time. And some good food (thank you, Grandpa, for a nice breakfast!)
I think here Asher is saying, "Who are you and what are you doing?"
Grandpa with his two youngest grand"babies"
Goodbye, Asher! We'll see you for longer next time!

Cutting the bread for Thanksgiving Stuffing
Every year, the youngest children in the family get the job of cubing the bread for my mom's (originally my grandma's) famous Savory Stuffing. This year, Nik, Sophia and Kara had that honor. They did a pretty good job!
(If you look closely, Nik's knife is upsidedown because he thought it worked better that way. Just goes to show how dull the knives that we give them are!)
The kids got tired after a bit and then the professionals had to take over:
Yummy!
And here's some pics of the the two cute non-bread cutting grandkids!
And one more of NikNik because he's such a ham!

Fall (quick) photo shoot
I had two coupons for a free 5 x 7 photo card at Walmart. As we were rushing to get there (and let's face it, get out of there) I remembered the coupons were about to expire, so I made Kara pose for a quick photo shoot.
When I got there, the new HP photo kiosks were down, and I didn't get to use the coupons before they expired. In hindsight, I should have gotten a raincheck. Oh well...at least you got to see the cute pics!

Covered Bride Festival 2010
The Covered Bride Festival in Parke County, Indiana has been an annual tradition for my family since I was (younger than) Kara's age.
Papa bought some pumpkin ice cream which was a hit!
It was magnificent weather (which also means it was crowded) but we had a great time with my parents, aunt, grandma and cousin!
Kara insisted on carrying her own stuff out of the hotel...
We'll be back next year:

Delicious!!!
I love fall and I love this fallish recipe.
Kara calls these our "Covered Bridge Festival nuts." Stay tuned to learn about our experience there.
Click over to my favorite crockpot lady for the recipe if you don't mind a new addiction (it's worse than Pringles!)

Kara's Big Pumpkin Part 2
Here's how that big pumpkin turned out:
I asked her what the pumpkin's name was and she said, "Nothing. Why would you think I would name a pumpkin?"
